AIIMS Raipur is one of the apex healthcare institutes and playing an instrumental role in fighting the Corona pandemic! It is established by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) on the pattern of AIIMS, New Delhi. The Institute has been established with the aim of correcting regional imbalances in quality tertiary level healthcare and attaining self sufficiency in graduate and post-graduate medical education and training in this hitherto under-served area of the country.

Mission Statement
To establish a centre of excellence in medical education, training, health care and research imbued with scientific culture, compassion for the sick and commitment to serve the under-served. The Institute started functioning in 2012 under the able leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Nitin M Nagarkar, Head and Neck Onco-Surgeon as Director.

Medical College
All the pre-clinical and para-clinical departments of the Medical college viz. Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology and Community & Family Medicine are functional and located in their respective earmarked spaces.

Library
The Institute has an excellent Central Library spanning over 3 floors comprising about 15000 square feet floor area. The lower floor is the Medical books and general reading section, the middle being the reading facility. The top floor of the library is the state-of-the-art e-library and journal section. More than 8000 medical & nursing books and about 500 books of general reading are available in the library. Wi-Fi internet facility is available in all three floors of the library. The Central Library of AIIMS, Raipur has been awarded the ERMED usage award for 2016 by NML (National Medical Library), New Delhi.

Nursing College
AIIMS Raipur started College of Nursing in the year 2013. This college is established just adjacent to the medical college building.

Academic Progress of the Institute
AIIMS, Raipur started its academic journey in the September, 2012 with the first batch of 50 students joining the MBBS program. From the year 2013, each batch has 100 students joining the MBBS course. The College of Nursing started functioning in 2013 with intake of 60 students each year. The Institute has already started Post Graduate (MD/MS/MDS) courses from July, 2017. Today, 92 PG seats are available in 22 Departments. In addition to this, PhD, , DM, MCh, Post Doctoral Certificate courses in various departments, M.Sc. (Nursing) in Psychiatry, Master in Public Health, Para-medical courses (B.Sc.) , BASLP and Pre-Hospital Trauma Technician (PTT) courses are also available. Extramural and Intramural grants are also provided to faculty members for undertaking various research projects. Extramural grants are received from various agencies like ICMR, DST, CSIR etc.

Training/Achievements
CMEs/Seminars/Conferences/Workshops are being conducted in various departments to share and expand the knowledge and experience for betterment of teaching and clinical services. Various social/training programs related to health, prevention and cure from diseases, awareness campaigns are being conducted by Students and faculty members of AIIMS Raipur. The Institute has embarked upon various research activities including multi-centric studies conducted in the country.
AIIMS Raipur has conducted the 56th Annual Conference of the National Academy of Medical Sciences held from 21st – 23rd October 2016 at the institute premises.

AIIMS Raipur received commendation and cash prize for two consecutive years i.e. 2016-17 and 2017-18 from MoHFW under the Kayakalp Scheme for maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in the Medical Hospital complex
AIIMS Raipur was also adjudged as the 3rd Best Public Hospital in West Zone in THE WEEK-NIELSEN Survey 2017.
Ayushman Bharat Yojana has been implemented at AIIMS Raipur and the number of beneficiaries of the scheme is increasing day by day.
Students of AIIMS Raipur started their Annual Inter-college cultural event – ORIANA from 2017. This is a colourful inter-college cultural event where nearly 10000 students from colleges across India participate. This event has received accolades from all over.

Hospital
AIIMS Raipur started its OPD on 05.06.2013 and IPD services with 60 bedded on 27.11.2013. Today, all 18 specialty/clinical departments and 12 super-specialty departments are functional. AIIMS Raipur has 600 functional IPD beds with average OPD of 1900-2000 patients and 70-80 IPD admissions per day in Specialty and Super-Specialty departments.
18 state of the art Modular Operation Theaters are functional Services like ICU, NICU, PICU, HDU, Cath Lab, Blood Bank, Speech Therapy & Audiometry, CSSD, 256 slice CT, 128 slice CT, MRI, DSA, DR, OPG, Mammography, LINAC, CT Simulator, MGPS, Diagnostic Lab, Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre Unit (ICTC), Cath Lab, SPECT-CT, Ayushman Bharat, PMJAY, 24X7 Medical Stores are available round the clock. A separate and dedicated block for the facilities of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) services is available and functioning in AIIMS Raipur.

Telemedicine OPD
Telemedicine OPD services were started in collaboration with CRPF since 2nd April 2013. The service is being provided twice a week on every Monday and Thursday. This service specifically caters to the population of remote and inaccessible areas of Chhattisgarh, especially LWE (Left Wing Extremists) affected areas. Many outreach programs in the community are also being conducted by various departments.
Central Registration Counter
Online Registration of OPD patients started at AIIMS, Raipur on 05.11.2015 which saves valuable time of patient. Patients registering online can choose the date and time as per their convenience and availability of the doctors of the concerned department.
AIIMS Raipur got the 2nd position in the rating of Patient Satisfaction Score through “Mera Aspataal (My Hospital) IT-based patients’ feedback system an initiative of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to empower citizens to have their voices heard, involve them in making health care system more accountable and creating a system that acts on their feedback.
