Excerpts of the New Industrial Policy
The ongoing pandemic has brought the global economy to a screeching halt. As the world slowly creeps back to normalcy, economies across boundaries have majorly stepped up their efforts to bring back development back on tract.
Accelerating its efforts to revive the economy, the government of Chhattisgarh has decided to aggressively pursue and market its industrial policies. Taking notice of the rising unemployment in the state, the administration is making dedicated efforts to attract domestic as well as foreign investors. With a dedicated aim of self reliance, the state is aggressively pushing forward its policies.
The state of Chhattisgarh is blessed with high abundance of minerals, covering nearly 44% of the state. With an intent to utilise the resources, the state administration has pushed for special efforts to encourage mineral and power based industry as it will not only boost the state’s economy but it will also reinstate large scale employment in the rural and backward regions.
During the ongoing pandemic times, agriculture and agro based industries were amongst the only industries that reflected growth. Looking beyond the steel, iron ore and other large scale industries, the government of Chhattisgarh is also encouraging agro industries including turning cow dung into cash and using the surplus paddy for bio fuels and ethanol. Cashing in on the dense forest cover and traditional practices in the state, the state has also showed its interest in developing and promoting Ayurveda based industries.
Not limiting itself, the state government has made ample changes in its policies to attract investments in the field of Information Technology, Bio Technology as well as Pharmaceuticals.
With a clear sight to attract domestic as well as foreign investment in the state, the government has taken strong measures to stream line the process. Under the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB), the state government intents to extensively use technology for the different process including licensing and numerous registrations.
Even as the state government takes numerous steps to encourage new industries and investments in the state, it continues to encourage the existing industries, specially the industries catering their services in the field of Railways, technology, Defence and Atomic Energy, to accelerate their growth.
As the state agresively pushed forth its industrial policies, the state intents to encourage employment and technical training of the state’s youth as per the demands of their local industries. Government of Chhattisgarh is also encouraging empowerment of entrepreneurs from weaker background, former officials, ex servicemen as well as young entrepreneurs from SC/ST communities.
Keeping itself at pace with the Start Up times, the state is also going out of its way to encourage young enterprenues and inventors with simplified processes of investments and favourable policies for their growth.
The state is positive that the recent changes in its policies and its clear sight for the implementation process will not bring the economy back on track but also solve the worrying issue of increasing unemployment in the state.
