Chhattisgarh’s Daughter scales Africa’s tallest peak.
Amita Shrivas, an Anganwadi worker from Janjgir Champa in Chhattisgarh, has successfully scaled Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest peak in Africa.
She climbed the 5,895-meter-high peak in Tanzania on International Women’s Day on March 8.
“We should dream big. Only then can we achieve it,” Amita said, adding however that achieving her dream was no easy task.
She started climbing Kilimanjaro on March 4 at 10 am IST. On March 8, she reached the top around 7:45 am IST. At the summit, she hoisted the Indian flag and thanked her supporters.
The Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Co’s Atal Bihari Vajpayee Thermal power plant located in Madav Janjgir-Champa provided financial assistance of Rs 2.70 lakh to Amita for her campaign.
